INTRODUCTION
Our client is a local government, the office of a county in the United States. They wanted to ‘go digital’ by streamlining and automating business functions to provide better citizen services. This will facilitate a vibrant economy with abundant work opportunities, exercise fiscal responsibility, and make well-planned decisions with innovative approaches.
CHALLENGES
The county was using disparate legacy applications, Microsoft Excel, and manual tasks.
• Planning and budgeting – performed manually with Microsoft Excel
• Human Capital Management – manually managed recruitment, training, payroll, compensation, performance management (hiring documentation and checklists), employee time and vacations, employee benefits, and much more
• General Ledger – required huge manual efforts to reconcile at period close and inability to obtain real-time insights on GL, projects, and payroll
• Data was scattered in several silos – IT team and personnel from various departments manually intervened to reconcile and update systems/data. About 80% of the IT team’s time was involved in keeping systems/data up to date
The county decided to move to one ERP system to manage their accounting and administrative tasks across verticals and departments without manual intervention and partnered with HTC Global Services.
